Introduction



EM-T500 is an AI edge computing device, built-in NVIDIA Jetson AGX Xavier Core Module,  and its AI computing power up to 32 TOPS, the power comsumption is as low as 30W. It can provide high-level computing density, power efficiency and AI reasoning capabilities at the edge. NVIDIA's rich AI tools and workflows can  help developers quickly learn and deploy neural networks and be able to achieve: visual ranging, sensor fusion, positioning and mapping, obstacle detection, and robot route planning algorithms, etc.


The EM-T500 AI edge computing device is equipped with a high-performance, interface-rich NVIDIA Jetson Xavier carrier board. The T500 carrier board provides HDMI2.0, Gigabit Ethernet , USB3.0, USB 2.0 (W / OTG ), M.2KYE M (compatible with 2240, 2280 size solid state drive), 4G module interface, WIFI module interface, UART232 serial port, UART485 serial port, CAN bus, GPIO, I2C, fan and other rich peripheral interfaces.

Software


NVIDIA Linux For Tegra (L4T)

The T500 carrier board supports Native OS NVIDIA  Linux For Tegra (L4T) OS. and the HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet, USB3.0, USB OTG, serial port, GPIO, SD card, I2C bus can be also supported, and offical OS can run directly on T500 without modification. Please note that the Native OS NVIDIA  Linux For Tegra (L4T) does not support PWM control of the fan, If you want to use the native OS, IPCall-BSP must be deployed. L4T can be downloaded from the link below:

NVIDIA Jetpack for L4T

Jetpack is a software package released by NVIDIA, which contains various software tools that can help develop the TX1/TX2 on T500.  Jetpack also provides various tools on the host side and target side, including OS image files, middleware, sample programs, documents, etc. The latest released JetPack runs on Ubuntu 14.04 Linux 64-bit host and can be downloaded from the link below:

Recovery mode

The system can be updated via USB, and  T500 needs to be on the USB Recovery mode. Like file system update, kernel update, boot loader update, BCT update and other operations also need to be USB Recovery mode.

Please follow the steps to update the system.

Steps to enter Recovery mode:

1) Turn off the system power, please make sure to turn off the power instead of entering the standby state.

2) Use the USB Micro B to USB Type A cable to connect the carrier board and the host.

3) Power on the system

4) (Press the power button as needed) Press and release the reset button while keeping the RECOVERY button pressed, wait 2 seconds to release the RECOVERY button.

Note: When entering the USB Recovery mode, the system will not start, and the serial port will not output the debugging information
